LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) – Two men plead not guilty in connection to the death of a university of Kentucky chef from Lexington last December.

The body of 32-year-old Alex Johnson was discovered in the Kentucky River more than a month after he disappeared.

29-year-old Robert Taylor and 42-year-old Timothy Ballard appeared by video from jail today.

Taylor is charged with murder, kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence.

Ballard is charged with kidnapping, tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felon.
