BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WHAS11/AP) -- Authorities in south-central Kentucky say 19 kids were left unattended for about a week in a sweltering home in Bowling Green. Six of the children are cousins to the other 13 children.
One of the parents, Jackie Farrah, has been arrested and charged with 14 counts of criminal abuse and five counts of wanton endangerment. Police are still looking for the father.
The children were found Monday when the Warren County sheriff's office responded to a complaint.
Deputies found 19 children ranging from eight-months to 14-years-old with no supervision. The house didn't have air conditioning, there was no food and the home smelled of urine.
All the children were treated at a local hospital and then placed into protective custody.
Nine dogs and one cat were also removed.
Conditions inside the residence were in excess of 90 degrees. Temperatures reached 101 degrees in Bowling Green on Monday.
Police are still investigating, there could be more people charged in this incident.
