CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for a man who tried to stab a store cashier with a screwdriver Saturday night.
According to police, the man entered the Family Dollar on South Tryon Street and pretended to make a purchase. When the clerk opened the cash register drawer, the man tried to grab the cash. The clerk quickly closed the drawer and that's when the man tried to stab the cashier.
Police said the cashier was not hurt and that the man fled the scene in an older model black Chevrolet SUV, possibly a Tahoe.
Police described the man as a 30-years-old, approximately 6’3” tall and weighing over 300 pounds. He was wearing a winter hat with ear flaps hanging down, a white t-shirt, blue jean pants, light brown colored boots and has a mustache and goatee.
