GE Appliances expands production, adds 120 workers and new shift

LOUISVILLE (LBF) -- GE Appliances has added 120 workers and a new shift to boost its dishwasher production in Louisville.

The production capability is being added in response to increased demand, as dishwasher sales are up 25 percent from last year, according to Cynthia Fanning, vice president, dishwasher products.

Fanning chalks up the higher sales to the products' features, including new finishes, silverware jets, and bottle-washing jets. She also noted that the company has brought on new retail customers recently, such as J.C. Penney and Costco, and said the products are getting great positioning at retail locations.

GE Appliances' dishwashers are made at Appliance Park in Louisville. The company also makes bottom-freezer refrigerators and laundry machines there.
