Officials with the school say head baseball Coach Bill Miller died after a two-year battle with cancer.

The 68-year-old coach was in his 39th season and led the Panthers to 6 state championships, including his most recent one in 2017.

Miller was recently inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame and was the winningest baseball coach in the state’s history.

Principal Kim Salyer released a statement late Monday.

“The PRP Family has lost a true legend. Head Baseball Coach Bill Miller passed away today after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer. Coach Miller was a friend, colleague, and beloved teacher at Pleasure Ridge Park High School. He was a father figure to hundreds of players, coaches and members of our community. He taught all of us how to work hard and never quit. In short, Coach Miller made each of us a better person. His influence and life will never be forgotten.”

Officials are inviting everyone who knew the coach to celebrate his life and his dedication to PRP students at their home baseball game against No. 5 Madison Central on April 28 at 5:30 p.m.
