Review of officer seen on video striking handcuffed man complete

Sgt. Tackett was suspended for 40 hours and town leaders could not say for certain if the contact was unauthorized.

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – The review in the case of a Clarksville Police sergeant seen on video striking a handcuffed man is now complete.

The video is from January and showed Sgt. Jason Tackett hitting suspect Ray Smithers in Louisville's Portland neighborhood after a pursuit from Indiana.

The review of the case is now complete and Sgt. Tackett was suspended for 40 hours and town leaders could not say for certain if the contact was unauthorized.

Shortly after the incident police released the body camera video.
