Many people turning to hypnosis to cure their ailments

(WHAS11) - When anxiety has you going crazy and maybe it's sending some unwanted weight to your hips, perhaps diet and exercise are not enough. Maybe you have tried for years to quit smoking and the nicotine patches just don't curb your desire to smoke. One form of alternative medicine might be the answer to your problems.
Perhaps stepping away from the physical and entering the world of your own mind holds the power to changing your life forever. Dianna Luttrell has begun being put under the hypnosis of Diane Carlin. Dianna's choice to be hypnotized was a last resort to quit smoking after 42 years of nicotine addiction.
Dianna has not picked up a cigarette since. When she tempted, she now craves fruit instead, something Carlin suggested to her under hypnosis.
Every day more and more people are trying hypnosis to improve the quality of life. The primary reasons are to quit smoking and lose weight. Now a bonified non-smoker, Dianna is continuing her therapy to lose weight.
Carlin says not everyone can be hypnotized. She uses a pendulum to see just how open someone will be to the process. If the patient successfully moves the pendulum with their mind based on suggestion, they are a good candidate. But Carlin says this is not a cure-all for everyone and each experience is different.
In the medical community, hypnotherapy is being integrated more and more, even used along with prescribed pharmaceuticals. One thing is certain, all over the world, this type of alternative medicine is becoming less and alternative and more the norm.
Right now insurance does not cover hypnotherapy, but Carlin believes it will happen in the future. The cost for a session varies but ranges anywhere from ninety dollars and up.
