Did you know you can "go green" and earn green at the same time? Yep, you can earn rewards like cash back, gift cards or actual items for recycling. This morning's news segment was all about reward programs, be sure to check it out at the bottom of this post. Here are the three programs we featured this morning:
1. Recyclebank.com: Sign up (for free) and pledge to save water, recycle ink, etc. Also, you can sign up for programs, refer friends and learn how to live green. In return, you'll earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards or coupons!
2. Staples Rewards: Hands down, this one is my favorite. You can turn in up to 10 ink cartridges every month earning $2 back in Staples Rewards. I actually do turn in about 10 a month which means I earn $20 in rewards that can be used at Staples! It's like free money!
3. Reusable Bags: This one is a given but most people don't use them. Using reusable bags can save you .05-.10 at checkout when you get your bag credit. You'll save money while helping the planet at the same time. Can't beat that.
I'm a HUGE fan of recycling, we began recycling when I was in the fourth grade and I still recycle today. Even my kids know which bins are for plastic and which are for paper. Here's the thing, God created the earth and I'm not a huge fan of bring harm to anything God has created. I love the rewards programs that are out there to help people recycle but with or without rewards, I do believe in treating God's creation with care and respect.
