Let me just say I LOVE chocolate dipped cones. Have you had one? My grandmother used to take my sister and I to Dairy Queen all the time during the Summer for chocolate dipped cones. They are soooooo good which is what makes it so sad that we do not have a Dairy Queen near us anymore (although we are supposed to be getting one). The good news is that this tastes just like a chocolate chip cone! Get ready, my friends, YOU WILL LOVE THIS!
1 2/3 Cup Semi-Sweet or Milk Chocolate Chips
1 1/2 TBS Coconut Oil
Directions: The secret is in the Coconut Oil so don't try to replace that ingredient. First, place about 1 2/3 cups of chocolate chips in a microwavable bowl. Then, add 1 1/2 TBS of coconut oil. Zap it in the microwave for about 1 minute. Stir it together (it will be very runny). If you find it didn't melt completely, just put it back in for a few more seconds.
Coconut oil will harden when it is in the refrigerator or if it comes in contact with the ice cream...hence the "Magic Shell" effect. So, if you are going to store it in the refrigerator, I would put it in a glass container. I used a glass salad dressing container. That way you can just throw it in the microwave safely and melt it again when you need it.
Once you've mixed it (or reheated it), simply pour over your ice cream and watch it harden. That's it!
You can use any type of chocolate chips you want (I even used peanut butter) so experiment a little. Once you start, you won't stop. It's addicting. Of course, I do have a bit of a chocolate problem anyway but once you start making this stuff, you'll find you just need it all the time. :)
