If you have kids then toys are high on the Christmas list and chances are, they are not cheap. When I saw the list my oldest son wrote, I simply replied "You need to get a job." Seriously. The prices of some of these items is just plain crazy. Nevertheless, we all have to deal with it so I wanted to let you in on a little secret. Are you ready?

Wait for it...

Keep waiting...

Tired of the wait?

Here it is...

If I had the ability to add into this post insane amounts of music, I would have done so when you read that line above. It's completely music worthy.

How does this phenomenon work? Simple. First, sign up for a FREE 30 day trial of Amazon Prime. Now, you'll get free 2 day shipping on most of the items you buy. Make note of when you sign up though so you cancel at the end of the 30 days before you are charged.

Second, load up your cart with all the items you would like to purchase before Christmas. (Yes, you can do more than just toys it just so happens that toys drop the most though).

Third, check your cart every single day. I know that sound excessive but you're deal hunting, right? Amazon randomly drops prices, sometimes several times a day and sometimes, it only lasts for a few minutes. The second the price drops on your item to something you can live with, simply checkout. If you have prime then you won't have to worry about shipping costs and you can just order one item at a time if you want to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will all of the prices drop on my items? Nope. Not gonna happen. You'll notice the prices move up and and down all the time though, for me personally, usually 50% of the items I put in my cart do drop significantly.

Is there an easy way to find the clearance toys? Yes and no. You can visit the Hot Toy Deals page and see the latest deals on toys or you can visit one of my most favorite websites in the world and look at the Amazon Toy Thread to see what their users are posting. But, for the most part, you'll have to look yourself and check that cart everyday.

What if I can't sign up for the 30 day FREE Trial of Amazon Prime? Well, if you're an Amazon shopper, it's well worth the $79 to actually pay for Prime and you can go in with other family members too. There are two other alternatives, Amazon Mom and Amazon Student. If you can't sign up for those either then try to purchase the items that qualify for FREE Super Saver Shipping which means they ship free on an order of $25 or more. Just make sure you give them enough time to get you the items before Christmas.

*Random Note* I do think this has not been the best year for Amazon toy deals, we usually see more at this point but that doesn't mean your items won't be marked down and it doesn't mean that they won't start major markdowns soon. Just something I've noticed this year.

Is Amazon always cheaper? No. that is why you have to know your prices first before you even start deal hunting.

There you have it. Be sure to tell us what great deals you find and if you have questions, feel free to ask!
