The 48 Hour Film Project
10:00 AM EDT on Sunday, September 17, 2006
It was a project that put even the most experienced filmmakers to the test: They had just 48 hours to write, shoot and edit their own cinematic visions.
The Louisville event was just one in an ongoing series of 48 Hour Film Projects held throughout the world. In Louisville, the movies were made over the July 22-23 weekend and range from dramas, mockumentaries, science fiction and even a zombie love story.
From the 48 Hour Film Project web site:
The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."
An award ceremony for the Louisville entries took place at the Monkey Wrench (1025 Barret Ave.) on September 9.
