Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A republican candidate for metro council’s 18 th district is claiming an opponent is stealing his campaign signs and trashing them.
Jon Ackerson is running against Ellen Reitmeyer for a seat that’s being vacated.
Ackerson says he’s invested money and time in his campaign signs being placed in yards when he’s given permission.
In the past week he says some of them have been stolen and Monday night he decided to investigate at his opponent’s apartment complex.
He says he found ten signs in the garbage.
‘I was out driving around and I thought well I’ll just come out here to see if they’re here because sometimes opponents will do that to you. I’ve had that done to me before and so I just thought I’d check and see and I was shocked because I never thought Ellen Reitmeyer would do something like this,” says Ackerson.
Jon Ackerson says he filed a complaint with Louisville metro police this morning.
Ellen Reitmeyer denies have anything to do with the signs.
