Rape charges dropped against two Bullitt County men, they still face other charges
01:59 PM EDT on Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Rape charges were dropped Tuesday morning against two Bullitt County men but those same men though still face other charges.
In fact, the duo made headlines after being accused of assaulting an emergency medical technician who was working in an ambulance.
Jesse Cochran and Jonathan Mattingly were charged with sexual assault back in May of 2007. They were accused of raping a young woman they had been partying with on April 1st last year.
Tuesday morning the charges were dismissed against Mattingly and Cochran because the alleged victim in this case has multiple cases pending herself.
Jesse Cochran and Jonathan Mattingly made headlines twice last year. Once for the initial rape charge and then again later that year when a Bullitt County EMT accused both men of assaulting her while she was working.
The EMT spoke to WHAS11 News about what happened. Martha Corbin says she was asleep in her ambulance when she was attacked by the two men. She received a broken jaw and was stabbed in the arm. Police say two men were looking for drugs.
Jesse Cochran and his attorney say while they have a long road ahead with the EMT case but it’s good to have the rape charge dismissed. Cochran says he is innocent in both cases.
Cochran’s attorney says another indictment could be secured in the first case but they are prepared if this happens. In the meantime, they are also preparing for the EMT case. A pre-trial conference is set in Bullitt County Wednesday.
