Dallas police bust drug operation run by children

DALLAS -- Dallas police raided a home Wednesday night. They found heroin, marijuana, guns and a rifle. Police say the people running this operation are children.
"As a society this ought to be very disturbing to all of us," said Deputy Chief Julian Bernal, Dallas Police Department.
Police say an undercover officer bought heroin off a 14 year old boy at the house.... who was using an 8 year old relative as a look out.
"It was obvious to our undercover officer that the 8 year old was extremely street wise about the entire operation in and how it was run," said Deputy Chief Bernal.
Neighbors say they often saw the 8 year old walking the streets at all hours and doing drugs.
"I could see him sniffing out of a bottle of paint thinner," said a neighbor.
Last night police arrested the 14-year-old and questioned his parents. They are also looking for another 14 year old boy they believe was helping sell drugs around the neighborhood.
Police say the teens were mixing a new type of cheese heroin using Nytol instead of Tylenol P.M. Police say the teens told the undercover officer mixing it with Nytol would keep kids from dying.
"We find this particularly disturbing because of the fact that the message is lost that it's the heroin that's killing the children," said Deputy Chief Bernal.
