Man charged with impersonating police officer after trying to force woman into car

(WHAS11) - Louisville Metro Police have charged a man with impersonating a police officer.
This came after he ordered a woman to get into his car.
Police say the victim was intoxicated, which is why they believe the fake officer targeted her.
But it was two men wearing other uniforms that she has to thank for coming to her rescue.
As a drunk woman staggered through the Monkey Wrench parking lot early Saturday morning, an official looking car pulled up.
It was a silver Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor with tinted windows and a spotlight.
Police say the man driving was dressed in a black t-shirt, with an earpiece in his ear.
He approached the victim in this case, stated he was the police and told her to go with him or she would go to jail, telling her he would take her home.
Luckily for her, two firefighters working at the fire house up the street were watching.
The firefighters questioned the man asking who he was with and the man basically told them to mind their own business. He then gave the firefighters a unit number that didn’t match up to anything.
The firefighters then called police and detained the man.
When police arrived, they arrested 32-year-old Michael Myers on a felony count of impersonating a police officer.
In his car, they even found a very official looking fake badge that says Louisville police on it. Myers’ badge identified him as an “official boob inspector” from the department of titillations.
Even though it may have been intended as a joke, police say it looked real at first glance. And they believe Myers’ intentions were no laughing matter.
Thanks to the observant firefighters, the victim ended up getting a ride home from a real officer.
And Myers got a free ride to jail. Police say that if you’re approached by someone who identifies themselves as a police officer, but you’re not sure if they actually are. You should ask to see their official picture I.D.
All real Louisville police officers are required to carry them.
