JASPER, Ind. (AP/WHAS) -- 8 people have been treated for injuries after an explosion at Indiana Laminate furniture factory in Jasper, Indiana.
The first 911 call came into police about 7:20 a.m. EST Friday.
The President of Indiana Laminate says a spark ignited an explosion in the dust collection system in the furniture finishing room at the plant.
All 60 workers were evacuated from the building.
Authorities say 8 people from the Indiana Furniture Flatline Assembly Plant were treated and released from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Patients were decontaminated and treated for injuries that are not considered life threatening.
A Memorial Hospital representative said decontamination is standard operating procedure in this type of situation.
As a precaution, emergency workers shut off gas and electricity to nearby homes and businesses.
Jasper is about 50 miles northeast of Evansville.
