Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - We've already seen record high heat Wednesday morning and it's just going to get worse.

Some high schools have decided to have football practice before the sun comes up.

WHAS11 caught up with players at Christian Academy of Louisville who started practice at 6am.

Coaches say they're taking every precaution necessary to keep players cool and hydrated.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association mandates that teams take 10 minute water breaks every 30 minutes.

After the death of PRP football player Max Gilpin, Kentucky high school coaches must now take an online course on preventing heat related-illnesses.
