Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Hsgametime is back and our Game of the Week takes us to Seneca High School as the Redhawks host the Central Yellowjackets.
One of the big story lines of Friday night’s game is the return of Seneca quarterback and UofL commit DaMarcus Smith. The senior missed his entire junior season after injuring his knee and having two surgeries, but now the talented quarterback is back. And if his sophomore year numbers are any indication we should be in for a treat. In his sophomore year, Smith threw for 3,227 yards, 32 touchdowns, with just 5 interceptions in 12 games. He also rushed for 457 yards and 3 touchdowns. The 6 foot 2 quarterback is considered one of the most talented seniors in the state of Kentucky.
In the season opener for both schools, Seneca hosts Central High School. They yellowjackets finished last season 8-6 and with plenty of talent returning, Central is projected to be a strong contender in the 3A class. Junior Anthony Wale is coming off a sophomore season where he rushed for 1,950 yards and had 31 touchdowns. Wales is considered one of the top running backs in Louisville.
Kickoff this Friday night at Seneca High School is set for 7:30. For updates throughout the game you can follow Danielle Santoro on twitter at http://twitter.com/DanielleSantoro
