Charlestown High School
A four-year football player and captain of the team, Clay has shown prowess on the football field as well as dedication in the community. “His determination to succeed academically, as an athlete, and as a volunteer citizen make him an excellent role model for his teammates as well as the youth in our town,” says Charlestown head football coach Jason Hawkins. In football, Clay broke the school record for most sacks in a season this year with 14. In track, he was a 2009 sectional runner-up/regional qualifier in shot-put. He serves as the treasurer for the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In addition, Clay has been an announcer for Little Pirates Football community youth league for the past four years and coaches Little Pirate flag football.
Assumption High School
Sara was appointed a team captain for both the cross country and track teams at Assumption and strives to unite all classes as a team. She makes a point of remaining at meets until all the races have ended to cheer for and congratulate teammates and to help clean and pack up the team tent and area. Sara strives to set a good example by choosing not to drink or do drugs both at practice and away and encouraging others to do the same. In addition, Sara collects and recycles water bottles used at practice, a project she began her sophomore year. She has worked to get other sports teams at her school involved in this project as well.
