Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- Tuesday, a victory celebration was held at Assumption High School to celebrate the track and field team's new state title!
The girls took home the state championship Saturday at the University of Louisville.
Coach Barry Haysworth says he was extremely proud of the effort they put forth in the warm temperatures.
He says winning is important, but that is not all he wanted the girls to take away from this experience.
“It's easy to focus on winning and how important that it, and it does matter, but the thing that really matters is ultimately what they develop from this process that leads to this kinds of a victory,” said Haysworth.
Haysworth also coaches the Assumption cross country team, who took home their own state title this year.
