University of Louisville baseball head coach Dan McDonnell announced the signing of outfielder and left-handed pitcher Cody Ege (Cherokee, Iowa), infielder Adam Engel (Loveland, Ohio) and left-handed pitcher and first baseman Brad Hedden (Succasunna, N.J.) to National Letters-of-Intent during the 2010 early signing period.
The trio is the fourth and final group of signees in the Cards' 2010 recruiting class. All of the signees in the Cards' 2010 recruiting class will report to campus next fall and will be eligible to compete in the 2011 season.

Cody Ege, OF/LHP
Cherokee, Iowa (Cherokee Washington HS)
Ege, a 6-1, 175-pound outfielder and left-handed pitcher, earned First Team All-State honors as a junior as Cherokee Washington High School advanced to the state tournament under the leadership of coach Scott Koch, who is the father of current Louisville freshman pitcher Matt Koch. At the plate, he hit .477 with four home runs, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored and 14 stolen bases as a junior, while on the mound, he was 9-1 with a 0.22 ERA, the seventh best ERA in Iowa prep history, and 115 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. Overall, he is a three-time All-State selection. As a sophomore, he hit .478 with three home runs, 45 RBI, 36 runs scored and 19 stolen bases and was 12-0 on the mound with a 1.04 ERA and 84 strikeouts as Washington HS earned a state runner-up finish. As a freshman in 2007, he hit .369 with 24 RBI and 24 runs scored as Washington won the state title. He competed in the 2009 World Wood Bat Association World Championship, the 2009 WWBA Kernels Foundation Championship and the 2009 Top Prospect Midwest Showcase. He has also earned three letters in basketball.
Adam Engel, IF
Loveland, Ohio (Loveland HS)
Engel, a 6-1, 185-pound infielder, is a two-time All-League selection for Loveland High School and head coach Ken Reed. As a junior, Engel hit .520 with a school record 17 doubles, 24 RBI, 24 runs scored and 13 stolen bases, while he hit .544 with 19 RBI and 20 runs scored as a sophomore. He participated in the 2008 World Wood Bat Association 17U National Championship and he plays summer baseball for the Midland Redskins. He earned three letters in football and became the first Loveland player to earn Fort Ancient Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors as a senior quarterback earlier this fall.
Brad Hedden, LHP/1B
Succasunna, N.J. (Roxbury HS)
Hedden, a 5-11, 190-pound left-handed pitcher and first baseman, earned All-Conference, All-Area and All-County honors as a junior for Roxbury High School and head coach Greg Trotter. At the plate, he hit .418 with four home runs and 23 RBI as a junior, which followed a sophomore season that included a .412 average with 25 RBI to earn All-Conference honors. He plays summer baseball for the Tri-State Arsenal. He competed at the 2009 World Wood Bat Association World Championship, the 2009 WWBA Northeast Qualifier, the 2009 WWBA 17U National Championship and the 2008 WWBA 16U National Championship.
