SELLERSBURG, Ind. (WHAS11) - A water main break means the tap water in Sellersburg is not safe to drink for a few days. The whole town is under a boil water advisory until February 14 at 3 p.m. This does not bode well for restaurant business, especially on a busy holiday weekend.

You can sip on soda but if you are in Sellersburg, avoid drinking the water this weekend. A construction crew broke a main at the intersection of Highway 60 and South Indiana Avenue on Friday.

Many restaurant owners say they are keeping up with the Valentine's Day rush but say it has not been easy.

Patty Smith, the owner of the Fireside Bar and Grill, says they have been sending employees up to the store each time they run out of water to purchase 20 to 30 two liter bottles at a time.

The store, Jay C, says they are running out of stock of ice and drinks and the McDonald's in town says they have slashed most of their beverage service.

The line is repaired and Public Works Director Ken Alexander says a positive water test came back Sunday morning but they are still using caution.

The boil water advisory is in effect until February 14 at 3 p.m. or until further notice. Until then, you are asked to use caution when doing white laundry and to be sure to boil your water for at least 10 minutes before drinking or cooking with it.
