LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two men were arrested Sunday night in connection with a domestic violence incident at a woman’s home in Louisville.

Douglas Alexander and Christopher Capito, the woman’s ex-boyfriend, are accused of breaking into Tammy McGauhey’s house with baseball bats and knives and threatening to kill her and her son.

“They came in here going wide open didn’t care who was in the way. Small children, it did not matter," said McGauhey.

McGauhey showed WHAS11 the damage done to her home.

“They took the baseball bats and the kids were trying to get out of the window. Pictures were being busted and door knobs were going,” said McGauhey.

She also said her 3-year-old niece, Natalie, hid in the bathroom tub.

Capito and Alexander fled the scene when they heard police sirens. They were later arrested.

“If it wasn’t for the sirens my son wouldn’t be here. He would have been dead,” said McGauhey.

McGauhey hopes her story will bring awareness to domestic violence.

Capito and Alexander are both charged with burglary, assault, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.
