Bug infestations, water leaks and heating problems are just some of the complaints tenants at one apartment complex in southwest Louisville say they've been dealing with for months.

Now they're protesting. Jessie Evans and his wife hung up this sign at the Brookview Apartments to let people know about the bug infestation.

He says it's so bad he and his wife have been forced to bag up their belongings and sleep in the living room. Evans says he wants the problems fixed or the opportunity to break his lease.

“I have a wife and a kid on the way. I don't want her growing up in bugs. I've been here for months and haven't been able to get them to do nothing yet,” said Evans.

Evans says he and another tenant have started a petition against the Brookview Apartment Complex. So far, 15 people have signed.

WHAS11 talked with the River City Properties maintenance supervisor Sunday.

He says the Evans brought the bed bugs with them and that they are trying to evict the couple.

The Evans’ deny they brought the bed bugs to the apartment.

They also say they don't want to lose their security deposit by leaving and want to recover furniture they had to throw away. Both the Evans’ and River City Properties are scheduled to go to court.

I believe everything these tenants say! I KNOW. I lived at Brookview for almost a year. The place is a DUMP. I could go into GREAT detail, but there isn't enough room here. I tell anyone who'll listen: NeverNeverNEVER rent from River S**TTY!!

Well, even if the Evans' did bring the bedbugs with them, what about the water leaks and the heating problems? I called the city and got it taken care of!

OK, this is weird. All of my comment didn't make it. I was saying I once lived in a rented house where the landlord refused to replace a faulty furnace. I called the city and they took care of it.

If you have had a similar experience with ANY apartment or apartment complex and its landlord or management company, there are a LOT of apartment rental Web sites that will allow you to post your legitimate complaint(s) and/or praise.

Ok. As a landlord pointe of view. There are many ways to handle problems tenants have without showing their tales. If you need something done, as momma always says, ask nicely and your chances are more likely to triple. I know the landlord there. She is a wonderful manager and cares about her tenants and for someone to not be taken care of, they had to go about things incorrectly. That also means that when management is trying to take care of a problem, you have to cooperate. Anyone in the rental business knows there are problems that accure that can't be handled immediatly. Tenants should also know that we can't wiggle our nose and poof the problem disappears. I assure everyone that reads this, the manager is fabulous and all of this chaos isn't helping matters at all. Grow up and handle matters like adults.
