(WHAS11)  Saint Xavier High School is not happy about an e-mail invitation that was sent out and appears to be on their letterhead.   It was from mayoral candidate Jim King.

The e-mail began circulating Thursday night after having been sent to several St. X alumni, inviting them to a fundraiser for King at a local bar next month.

The e-mail called King, “A son of Saint X.”

Saint X sent an email out to all alumni on Friday, saying that neither the high school nor the alumni association authorized the use of its logo, individual alumni email addresses, nor were they provided to Mr. King.

Saint X also said administrators of the school told King about their great displeasure.

Jim King’s campaign told WHAS11 that they have since cancelled the fundraiser and sent this email, “Our intention was to send this communication only to friends and supporters.  It was not our intention to imply that Saint X endorsed it.”

The King campaign said some of the Saint X alum working for the campaign were able to access email addresses.
