(WHAS11) -- One of the parents who sued Jefferson County Public Schools to overturn the student assignment plan is now running for a seat on the Board of Education.
Chris Fell filed suit against the school district after JCPS assigned his daughter to a first grade near downtown Louisville instead of several others nearest their home in Jefferstown.
Though his daughter now attends second grade in a school close to home, Fell says he is continuing his fight; both in court and now as a candidate for the school board. Fell is running for an open seat with Larry Hujo who is retiring from the District seven seat.
By his own admission, Fell says he is mainly a one issue candidate.
Last fall, the court of appeals agreed with Fell that Kentucky law provides for students to enroll in schools nearest their home.
JCPS has tweaked the student assignment plan since then.
Fell says even if the Kentucky Supreme Court throws out the busing policy in April, he will remain a candidate to make sure it stays that way.
