Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- A ground-breaking new study is challenging the common perception that heart attacks are a problem mainly for older men.

The study points out that a woman is less likely to experience chest pain during a heart attack, and could confuse symptoms of jaw pain, shortness of breath, heavy sweating and nausea as indigestion, flu or stress.

The study shows that doctors can also misdiagnose the symptoms.

Heart attacks are a leading cause of death among women.
