LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Fighting, cursing, and disrespecting bus drivers, it's all problem behavior WHAS11 found on a bus from Stopher Elementary School.

And there's a connection to last week's assault of a JCPS bus driver.

"We feel like there's not any problems we can't solve on these buses," John Jacobs, a JCPS official, said.

But are the solutions too little too late?

Chesica White told WHAS11 last week she went to the bus stop to confront her son’s driver about bullying he'd dealt with all year on the bus.

"The lady grabbed my daughter in the chest and drew her hands back like she was ready to hit my daughter," White said.

"She kicked her foot out like she was trying to kick me in the chest so I caught it and I pulled. When I pulled she pulled the little girl and my son off the bus," White said.

That violent confrontation has White and her daughter facing felony charges, but we've learned there's been a history of trouble on that same bus.

These documents show fighting among students, one throwing a snowball on the bus, students cursing at parents picking up their kids, and challenging bus drivers. John Jacobs is with JCPS. He says the trouble stems from a small group.

"I would think most of the referrals probably came from a dozen students or so 12 or 14 students," added Jacobs.

While the offenders may be few their conduct is bringing added attention.

"We have cameras on the bus, we hired a monitor on the bus, “Jacobs said.

Jacobs says problems are reported by drivers and are first handled through principals, students, and parents.

"We like to work through the parents. We don't want to suspend a student from a bus immediately,” Jacobs said. “We think there are other options first.”
