LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)- In 2004 Kentucky passed a constitutional ban on same sex marriage, but that hasn't stopped people from talking about whether the state should follow in New York's footsteps.
“I’m totally for it. I think that it’s a great thing. I think more places should do it honestly. I don’t see why anybody would be against it. It’s not hurting anybody,” said Laura Zierer.
“I hesitantly am against the law just because I feel that marriage is reserved for a man and a woman. And it’s not reserved for people within a family, or for multiple partners or the same sex,” said Ray Rieck.
The director of the fairness campaign here in Louisville says while same sex marriage might not be in the near future for Kentucky, they are working hard to implement a statewide anti-discrimination fairness law.
