Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - How is the city of Louisville going to come up with more than $45 million in back pay they owe firefighters?

The metro council will take up that issue at Thursday night's meeting.

Louisville must pay the more than $45 million in three payments.

Councilmember Jon Ackerson from district 15 says the city should use money from the $84 million rainy day fund to pay out the settlement instead of acquiring more debts.

The metro council will vote on how to come up with the first payment at their meeting Thursday night.
