(WHAS11) - A horrific car crash left four teenagers dead one year ago Friday.
They were leaving an event sponsored by a group to help at risk kids.
On Friday a memorial was held in honor of the boys.
Louisville police say 17-year-old Herbert Lee was driving a stolen car and was fleeing police when he crashed, killing three brothers and their friend.
Court records reveal that those who worked for Youth Alive, a group that helps at risk kids, told the boys to get in the car with Herbert Lee.
A Youth Alive coordinator by the name of Paul Watson told police in an interview that they asked Herbert Lee if he could take a few of the guys home.
Watson later says in the interview, they asked Herbert Lee, or "Herb" as Watson refers to him, to take home Demar, Jemar and Mark Claybrooks and Aaron Shields.
Those are the four teens killed in the crash.
Watson told police that the director of the coordinators told him to tell the boys to get out of the van and into the car with Herbert Lee.
Watson says the vans were too crowded and Herbert Lee volunteered to take the boys home.
Youth Alive has since closed down.
