Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A Louisville man appeared in court Tuesday morning after police said he had his pitbull attack police officers.

It all started late Sunday when police tried to pull over a motorist for failing to use a turn signal. Authorities say Miller would not stop for the officers and instead, drove to a home on Cristland Road.

Police said when they tried to arrest Miller, he punched officers and told his pitbull to attack.

Three officers were bitten by the dog before one officer shot and killed the animal.

The officers tried several times to tase Miller, but they were unsuccessful.

They said Miller also pulled one of the officer's gun from his hand.

Miller faces several charges including wanton endangerment against a police officer, assault against a police officer, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Michael Miller, 44, was jailed on a $10,000 bond and is not allowed to own any dogs.
