(WHAS11) - A Shepherdsville man is now charged with murder after the death of a four-month-old twin baby.
18-year-old Samuel Harris was baby Aiden's mother's boyfriend.
Police said he threw the infant across a room and onto a broken sofa and then shook him because he wouldn't stop crying.
Harris admitted to using marijuana at the time.
The child was pronounced dead Thursday.
The judge has denied a request for Harris to get a psychiatric evaluation. His bond was set at $1 million.
Heather Allen, a close family friend of the twins' mother, said the ordeal has been a nightmare.
“He's going to get what he deserves,” Allen said. “Whether he's on death row or gets up in jail. You know how they feel about baby killers.”
Aiden's twin brother, Braiden, was also injured and he is now in the state's custody. Detectives said he was also abused but they're investigating exactly who did it and when.
Harris is scheduled to be back in court next week.
