JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A softball field in Southern Indiana will continue to be used even after archaeologists have confirmed it was built on top of a civil-war era graveyard.
The city says they will continue to use the park at least through 2012.
At least 300 bodies are believed to be buried under the field. Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore says he was surprised people didn't know the area was a burial ground.
A marker nearby indicates several hundred union and confederate soldiers are buried there.
