Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - For the second time in a month, a Jefferson County Public School bus driver has been attacked while on the job.  This time a bus driver was egged early Friday.  School officials are calling this an assault and want the kids criminally charged.

The bus driver returned to work Friday afternoon after school officials say she was attacked.  Jefferson County Public School leaders say students threw dozens of eggs at her after they got on the school bus.

“That’s why the district we are going to pursue charges we hope some people can go to jail.  We take it very seriously.  Our security department is going to do everything they can so these people will be prosecuted and we are going to try to see if we can send them to jail,” said Rick Caple, Transportation Director for JCPS.

The only problem is district leaders don’t know which kids threw the eggs at the driver as they headed to Valley High School.  It happened at 41st and Elliott in West Louisville around 6:30 Friday morning.  It was still dark outside.

“She got hit in the back of her head her face it hit the mirrors it hit everywhere.  Like as soon as the lights shut off we got right there at the end of the corner the lights shut off and they just started throwing them,” said one student who witnessed the incident.

“I was on the bus and I was looking up and all of a sudden I saw eggs and then I ducked,” said another student witness.

This is the second time a JCPS bus driver has been attacked on the job this month.  A few weeks ago a driver from Stopher Elementary was dragged off the bus allegedly by a parent.

Some of the students told WHAS11 that kids were mad at the bus driver because they thought she was rude.

The eggs were thrown while the bus was moving.  The bus driver pulled over and that’s when a group of students ran off the bus.  Witnesses say they jumped on to a TARC bus and later came to school.

The school bus does not have security cameras.
