Do you think the Harley plant should be moved to Kenucky?
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Workers at a Harley-Davidson plant in south-central Pennsylvania say the union has voted to accept a contract that is designed to keep the plant there.
Workers leaving the York Expo Center after the Wednesday vote told reporters that the tally overwhelmingly favored ratification.
The York Daily Record and WGAL-TV each reported the vote tally on their Web sites.
Regardless, Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson is planning deep job cuts at the plant and is not saying whether it has decided the plant's fate.
The company says the plant is too inefficient and costly in light of steep sales declines, and has threatened to move it to Kentucky.
A union official says he believes the contract's cost savings will compel the company to stay, while Gov. Ed Rendell is offering millions in incentives.
