LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Five women, all former jail inmates, are suing the two former deputy jailers who are already charged with sexual abuse. The lawsuit claims that not only did Travis Strader and Harold Marcum exchange contraband like prescription painkillers and phone cards for sexual favors, but that the "outrageous conduct" included "intentionally molesting, raping, battering and assaulting the plaintiffs." Also named in the lawsuit is the former Larue County jailer, Mac Trumbo, who is not charged, but the lawsuit says did nothing to stop the crimes.
The attorneys say hundreds of women were incarcerated in Larue County during the two year span of the alleged crimes, at least six others will also testify they were sexually abused, and even more may come forward. The woman are also alleging that they contracted STD’s from the jailers.
