Nebraska police said two weeks went by before they found the body of a man who committed suicide in his home and at some point during the two weeks his dogs had started to eat the body.

The two pugs, Harry and Sally, are now up for adoption at the Nebraska Humane Society and that the dog’s eating the body was a matter of instincts.

"At some point in time when our bodies begin to decompose we stop smelling like Pam and, and, you know, we, we start smelling like a decomposing animal and, um, their instincts will kick in,” Pam Wiese, Nebraska Humane Society, said.

Wiese said they hope to find a good home for Harry and Sally, but they will be careful when matching them with a new owner due to their unusual history.
