Democratic mayoral candidate Jim King is asking that 20-year-old divorce files be sealed

Democratic mayoral candidate Jim King and his ex-wife are asking a judge to seal the files of their divorce. 

In a statement to WHAS11 news, Jim King said, “No matter what the outcome of that (legal) process may be, I will have no comment on these intensely private matters from 20 and almost 30 years ago.  I’ve been deeply involved in public service and the business community here, and our private lives have never been an issue.”

King said he hopes and believes that the people and media in Louisville will respect his family’s privacy.

The Louisville Courier Journal reports that the divorce files include allegations that Jim King “physically, emotionally and verbally abused” Rebecca King more than 25 years ago
