(WHAS11) - WHAS11 special reports, Black and White in Kentuckiana, are generating phone calls, emails and responses on our website.
The series is generating a dialogue; some of it good, some of it heated.
But it has people talking and that's why WHAS11 News wanted to do it.
WHAS11’s Rachel Platt has been getting phone calls from the exchange WHAS11 News ran Sunday night about a local pastor she interviewed about blacks and whites loving one another. The pastor told Rachel that she is privileged because she is white.
That response has touched off many comments on WHAS11.com, like this one, “If you don't believe racism still exists, listen to the conversation between Rachel Platt and Dr. Jean Wilson. She accuses Rachel Platt of being privileged simply because she is white.”
Rachel says that when she first said that to her, it upset her but she felt differently as the conversation continued.
According to Rachel, it was really eye opening for her; kind of like walking a mile in someone else’s shoes.
WHAS11’s Renee Murphy says she has heard comments like these before. There are still many people in the black community that feel this strongly about people's difference just because of the color of their skin.
Renee’s story on interracial dating touched off some discussion also. We’ve linked you up to all of the Black & White in Kentuckiana pieces right here on WHAS11.com. Check them out, read comments and tell us what you think.
