Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- After claims from the Kentucky Republican Party that the Beshear Administration is illegally targeting state workers for campaign contributions, we now know how much state workers are giving to governor Steve Beshear's re-election campaign.
An analysis of campaign finance records by the Courier Journal shows that state employees have given nearly $850,000 to Beshear's campaign.
His republican opponent, Senate President David Williams, has received no more than $35,000 from state workers.
On Thursday the Beshear Administration said Finance Secretary Lori Flanery used her state email account send invitations to a Beshear Fundraiser, but said it was an honest mistake, and the fundraiser was cancelled.
