(WHAS11) The next time you fly, expect a packed flight. It is part of the downsizing from airlines across the country, and it’s affecting Louisville as well.
So far in 2009, air traffic has fallen 14% at Louisville International Airport.
While you may have heard that airlines are coping by charging extra baggage fees and fare increases, what you may not know is that airlines have also decreased flights across the country.
And that could impact your holiday travel.
Tom Tyra, Director of Marketing at Louisville International Airport said, “While airports like ours may not be as busy on the departure side, the connecting hubs will be very busy. All of those airplanes that were decreased, just pushed more people onto fewer flights heading to connecting hubs.”
AAA said it is inconveniences like that, as well as the extra expenses that may push people to take to the road. They said there will most likely be a slight increase in Thanksgiving road travelers, compared to last year.
