Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - It opened its doors in 1956 and has been home to the U of L basketball teams since then.
But fans will have to go to the new arena to hear the squeak of the hardwood floor next year.

In less than 24 hours, the last basketball game for U of L will be played at Freedom Hall.
It’s tough for fans to say goodbye to a place that's been home since 1956.
Since the 1950's, cheerleaders have shouted from the sidelines, teams battled it out on the court and even world horse shows have called Freedom Hall home.
While it was the home of major sporting events, it also hosted the King.
In 1974 Elvis Presley even performed at Freedom Hall.
Then in the 1980's there was a renovation to add about 2,000 additional seats at Freedom Hall.
After decades inside this venue, Cards fans will proudly wear their red and say goodbye.
But this may not be the last time U of L takes the court at Freedom Hall.
Louisville is hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Tournament and the U of L women could possibly play then.
