95 new jobs coming to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - A New York-based financial business is finding a new home in Metro Louisville.

The move will create nearly 100 high end professional jobs.
 
It was a meeting of the minds in Downtown Louisville.

"Good OK, we like that," Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, said at Metro Hall.

Governor Steve Beshear, Mayor Fischer and the former CEO of E-Trade talked about new investment and business.

"Kentucky is a place that encourages entrepreneurial behavior," Mitchell Caplan, CEO of Jefferson National Financial, said. "That's sort of the genesis of who we are, always to do things in a non-traditional way."

He announced that they're moving headquarters from the Big Apple to Metro Louisville. That means 95 jobs with an average salary of $85,000 will soon be available.

They plan to expand their facility at 9920 Corporate Campus Drive in Eastern Jefferson County which is located near the YMCA. An investment of $4 million into the Commonwealth.

The move from New York to Kentuckiana that will double their staff and building space as they provide innovative financial services.

"It's not surprising that Louisville was ranked 14th in the nation among large metro areas when Forbes released its best places to do business list." Beshear said.

While most companies flopped because of the recession, this company did exactly the opposite. Those new jobs should be available within the next year.

"These guys are in a hyper-growth phase right now. So they need a lot of talented people in all phases of their business," Fischer said.
