(WHAS11) - The Centers for Disease Control is recalling 800,000 doses because they might not be strong enough to protect kids from the swine flu.
The recall involves doses made by Sanofi Pasteur and are pre-filled syringes intended for kids six months to 3-years-old.
Health officials recommend kids those ages get two doses a month apart.
The CDC says it doesn't know how many of the recalled doses have already been given but don't think kids need to be re-vaccinated.
The vaccine passed potency tests when they were first shipped but tests indicate the potency waned.
A Floyd County clinic administered 42 of the recalled doses at Mount Tabor Elementary on Dec. 5th. If your child recieved this dose, the Floyd Co. Health Department will be contacting you and your child will need a second dose.
You can contact the Floyd County Health Department at 1-812-948-4726.
Lexington health officials say 30 doses were given at a clinic at Bryan Station that same day.
