LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The mayor awarded Brightside Naturescape grants to seven organizations for community garden and tree planting projects. Neighborhood groups, suburban cities, schools and nonprofit organizations were able to apply for the grants, which are made possible by Yum! brands.
Bellarmine University, Bloom Elementary and Fern Creek High School were all awarded grants Tuesday. All of the schools have different plans for the money including gardens and hands on ways to supply fresh products during school lunches.
