Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- A group of community volunteers is making a Downtown Louisville neighborhood greener.
Volunteers met with residents at Gwendolyn Street to plant 12 maple and red bud trees on the block between Clay and Shelby streets. It's part of E.ON's Right Tree, Right Place program.
“We actually choose which tree to plant base on the power lines, based on the utilities that are around to make sure that in the future there are no problems, create more man hours, things like that for any additional labor that needs to go in the trees,” said volunteer Matt Nally.
Residents will make sure the trees are watered and continue to grow.
