Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - The University of Louisville is trying to cut its carbon footprint and they say free bikes could be the answer.

University officials are trying out a new project that would give students and faculty free bikes if they give up their parking space for two years.

On Tuesday, students and faculty had a short test ride on several bike models.  They were asked to rate the bikes.

Motorists who commute to campus generate 9% of the school's greenhouse gas emissions.
