Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - In this Project Green, the urban garden initiative that's growing in Jefferson County.
The community garden in Louisville's Russell neighborhood is one of 11 in the city.
For the past two years the Junior League of Louisville has been involved with the garden and two others in Louisville to help dare to care with fresh produce.
Junior League members say community gardens are a great way to give people access to healthy foods they might not have otherwise.
"You pay $10 for the entire year. Most plots in community gardens are filled now in Jefferson County. The league is looking now to help look at other areas of the city perhaps on private property, perhaps on city land so we can help grow this initiative to give people more access," said Sarah Ludden of the Junior League of Louisville.
