Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Did you upgrade your electronics during the holiday season?

You can dispose of your old televisions, computers and other electronics this week by recycling them at the Louisville Nature Center.

Collection bins will be available at the nature center through Sunday.

They'll take computers, televisions, game systems, printers and other electronics.

These items contain toxins that are bad for the environment when put into a landfill.

But they also contain valuable resources.

“It's a lot of energy and resources to manufacture these things. If we can try to recapture some of those materials and put them back into a useful stream it's always more beneficial to the environment,” said Commonwealth Computer Recycling CEO Jim Shields.

Last time they recycled about four tons of electronics in five days but expect an even bigger turnout this year.

You can recycle your old electronics for free at the Louisville Nature Center through Sunday.
